Lots of Fun

Making an elephant. I used a super soft flannel. Perfect for a stuffed animal.

Just needs ears and eyes!

All done! Made this for a friend at work who is about to have a baby.

Making a dress for Lilly's doll.

I LOVE my sewing machine! Added a little extra around the hem.

So pretty!

So, After I finished this dress I realized that the doll I had made earlier had sleeves
that stuck out underneath the dress and looked wierd. So..... I had to make another doll!

My second doll.
I made this doll when Chelsey and I had our sewing day.
Sadly I didn't take any pictures.
 I have to get better at taking pictures of the fun things and not just the stuff!

Wearing a second peasant dress.

In the first peasant dress.

All the patterns I used were by Bit of Whimsy Dolls.

Bit of Whimsy Doll

My Bit of Whimsy pattern ordered off of Etsy.
A very good pattern with easy to follow instructions and excellent pictures.
After this profect, I definitely want to buy more of her patterns!

My "studio", aka the dining room table.

Fabrics chosen, getting ready to cut out all of the pieces.

Late on Sunday night, resisting the urge to start sewing the pattern now that it's cut out.

Getting started. Her legs are white because she is wearing tights.

My assistant.

giving her two cents

Arms stuffed and attached (if you look really closely you can see that I couldnt quite get one of the arms completley attached). Body done, waiting to be stuffed.
I chose to draw her face on because I am unpracticed at embroidery.

Pretty much all done, just waiting for her skirt.

DONE!

What a mess! Now to clean up so we have a table again;
 or to start another project.....

Recent Projects

For my newest neice, coming any day now!
This is an applique that I designed.

This applique has four layers in all, each fused to the onsie with an iron on film,
then I stitch around the edges (with the sewing machine).

Adorable iron-ons I found at my local craft store.

More iron-ons and cute shorts that are so easy!

A Noble Goal

10 [a]A wife of noble character who can find?
   She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her
   and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm,
   all the days of her life.
13 She selects wool and flax
   and works with eager hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships,
   bringing her food from afar.
15 She gets up while it is still night;
   she provides food for her family
   and portions for her female servants.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
   out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17 She sets about her work vigorously;
   her arms are strong for her tasks.
18 She sees that her trading is profitable,
   and her lamp does not go out at night.
19 In her hand she holds the distaff
   and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
20 She opens her arms to the poor
   and extends her hands to the needy.
21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
   for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
22 She makes coverings for her bed;
   she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is respected at the city gate,
   where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
   and supplies the merchants with sashes.
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;
   she can laugh at the days to come.
26 She speaks with wisdom,
   and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household
   and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
   her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many women do noble things,
   but you surpass them all.”
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
   but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
31 Honor her for all that her hands have done,
   and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

The noble woman in Proverbs 31 took great pride and joy in making things for her family and home, as do I. This bog is meant to be an place to share my creative sucesses and failures as I strive to make beautiful things for my family, friends and home.
